Ethics Ambassadors

The Ethics Ambassadors: Peer-Led Ethics Instruction at Ohio University

The “Ethics Ambassadors” offer student-led workshops in ethics and ethical decision making. Workshops are free of charge for Ohio University units and organizations.

The Ambassadors are Ohio University students from various disciplines who have been trained to lead teach ethical decision-making through informal discussions with their peers.

The Ambassadors do not lecture, but rather use their skills to shape a conversation in such a way as to demonstrate ethical decision-making practices. In a typical session they will help the group come up with an ethical dilemma (typically an actual problem some Ohio student has faced on campus), then assist the group in working through the issue.

Typically two or three Ambassadors participate in any given discussion. In addition, a faculty or staff member attends each session to serve as a resource person, should the students request their help.

In order for discussions to be effective, there should be no fewer than five participants and no more than fifteen.

Sessions should run for at least 60 minutes, but should not run longer than 90.

To schedule a visit, simply write a message to ethics@ohio.edu with a proposed time and some basic information about the audience. The Ambassadors coordinator will contact you to work out details.
