Export Video for Web using Final Cut Pro

We get this question a lot, so one of our grads dug up this short howto video. Whenever we walk others through the process, the main concern is always “can my video look as good?”

  • We address this by investigating what the maximum allowable  resolution is for the video hosting site, i.e. Youtube, Blogger, WordPress, etc. This is the primary common cause of good/bad video quality; Bigger is better.
  • Secondly, we address quality as a factor of file size. Be aware that video hosting sites have file size limitations, therefore we must be sure that the outputted file fits within those limitations. Bigger is better, until internet bandwidth (connection speeds) get in the way.
  • Lastly, we address quality as a choice of video compression. Selecting a particular encoder makes a world of difference, but [generally] Final Cut Pro chooses wisely for your output format.
